SESSION DETAILS

At Playsticity, we have spent years doing formal research, as well as casually inquiring with local families. From this robust feedback and our recent poll, we’ve learned what local families want and need.

We have tailored our session formats and schedules accordingly, and will be changing them as needs change. The public school system’s schedule will be one we closely follow as well.

Please read on to better understand each session type.

  • In this session, we open up the space to any and all children. We can do this because they will attend with a caregiver who will make sure their individual needs are met, while our staff are also available to support and supervise.

    How it works:
One adult can bring up to 4 children into the space. The accompanying adult must supervise the children and is responsible for the group.

Adults pay $25, and children are $10 each. Payment is collected at the studio for the adult participation.

The $10 drop in fee for children can be paid at the studio or bought & added to their account from our sessions & packages page.

Each child must be booked in advance to reserve a spot.  All profiles must include completed waivers before visiting.

Our staff will be present to help everyone engage thoughtfully in child-led play.

Some examples of people who might use these sessions are:

    • Parents who homeschool multiple children.

    • Nannies in a nannyshare situation.

    • Grandparents who come to visit and want an activity they can do with their grandkids.

    • Support workers providing care and education to children with special needs.

    • Specialists like Occupational Therapists, Behaviour Interventionists, or Speech Language Pathologists who want to see clients in a more social environment.

    • Parents on parental leave with a young baby and toddler at home.

  • Date night is much the same as our age-defined sessions; it just offers a wider range of ages, to ensure that we can support families with siblings as best possible.

It’s also later, which allows for parents and guardians to enjoy a night out that works for them.

  • At Playsticity, we know that chronological age is not the same as developmental stage. One 32 month old is not the same as another. This is why our age ranges are wide and inclusive.

When we have a listed age range, we will not turn children away who are close to that age. For example, if it says 3-6yo, and your child just turned 7, they will not be turned away. Similarly, if they are a few months away from being 5, but you know they are ready to “play with the big kids”, please feel free to try sending them to a 5-9yo session.

Our age ranges are wide because all children benefit from playing with a diverse set of peers.

The requirement is that every child attending is completely and fully potty trained (and yes, that includes wiping independently!).

  • One thing we all know families in Vancouver are in need of is an extension of the school day to better accommodate parent/guardian work schedules.

At Playsticity, we are not a before or after school care, but we do offer sessions during those times to support local families that may need it.

Our morning time slot includes one staff member walking as many as 8 children to a nearby school (if your child does not need school drop-off, they will join one group for the walk to ensure they continue to be supervised - yay fresh air and exercise!).

In the afternoons, you can choose to enroll your child in the additional school pick-up session or not.

One staff member will be waiting at the school to pick up as many as 8 children, to then walk them back to Playsticity.
